Trade Desk, Ventura
The Trade Desk Project, located in downtown Ventura, is a unique space that was completed within a 3 month timeline. Our team managed multiple subcontractor firms, and took a hands on approach to completing this project from concept to occupancy.
The 12,000 sqft building was built in the 1940s. The infrastructure of the space includes a juxtaposition of raw building elements: brick & motor, board formed concrete, and wood trusses. The interior design features storefront glass, shades of blue and green, and high bay lighting.
The space features partitioned conference rooms which can be sectioned off for private use or opened up for events, which adds to the fluidity of the work environment.
21 S. California St.
Crowning the center of downtown Ventura, the interior is striking with elegant chandeliers, columns and decorative moldings. Built in 1926 by architect H. H. Winner, the building, in its time, was home to six banks. The law firm of Benton, Orr, Duval & Buckingham moved into the third floor of the newly built bank building at the southwest corner of Main and California Streets. It was the tallest building in the area and boasted Ventura County’s first elevator. It also turned out to be the birthplace of the first Perry Mason novel.
In 1933 Earle Stanely Gardner, a lawyer at the firm, published his first novel: “The Case of the Velvet Claw”. It featured something previously unknown to detective fiction, a crime-solving lawyer. Perry Mason became an instant hit, and by the mid-1930’s Gardner would leave the law to write full time. In all, he would write 82 novels featuring Perry Mason.
Nu-Line has been commissioned to restore the space which will feature 2 floors of private office space. The interiors consist of original brick and motor, restored hardwood floors, and mid-century finishes.
Tilt Up Buildings
One of our most popular construction methods for new commercial buildings in Ventura County is the concrete tilt-up method. We have constructed over 50 concrete tilt up projects in Ventura County.
In a tilt-up construction project in warmer climates, the building’s walls are poured directly at the jobsite in large slabs of reinforced concrete called “tilt-up panels". These panels are then raised into position around the building’s perimeter forming the exterior walls. Tilt-up construction can be done more quickly and with lower construction costs than what is typical for traditional masonry or wood framed construction projects.
Most early tilt up buildings were warehouses. Today the method is used in nearly every type of building from schools to office structures, houses to hotels. With modern design integration, concrete tilt ups can be aesthetically pleasing with low construction costs.
